• Pawtucket was founded in 1671 with a special place in the industrial history of the United States. It was here at the Slater Mill Historical Site that Samual Slater constructed and operated  the first water-powered cotton spinning mill in North America founded in 1793. • Hasbro, the popular toy manufacturer, has been headquartered in Pawtucket for nearly one hundred years. Among its products are: Transformers, Potato Head, G.I. Hasbro traces its origins back to 1923 by the Hassenfeld brothers who emigrated to the United States from Poland.
