The Louisiana State Board of Elementary and Secondary Education [BESE] has approved Horizon Education to join the state’s Supplemental Course Allocation (SCA) list of approved partners.  SCA is a program that gives a minimum foundation allocation for the cost of high school credit courses throughout Louisiana.  These courses provide educators the ability to build strong systems of support within their districts around the SAT/ACT for both college readiness and state accountability.

The Supplemental Course Allocation/Course Choice (SCA) program was developed to provide course opportunities not available at a student’s school in order to offer innovative career and technical education courses and internship opportunities.  Additionally, the design of the supplemental courses are to motivate academically-focused students to graduate high school, and to help students who are behind their class level to catch up and graduate on time. Since the 2013-2014 school year, the Course Choice program has increased its student enrollment by 52,324, giving more Louisiana students the opportunity to earn credits.

“This opportunity will allow Horizon to reach even more students across the state of Louisiana.  Providing support for students around both college readiness and state accountability will help engage all stakeholders ensure students are provided with every opportunity towards post secondary success.” Dustin Bainbridge, Founder- Horizon Education.

Horizon Education joins the Course Choice Program to provide students and teachers with ACT curriculum, interim assessments, and course design.
