Career and College Promise: North Carolina

North Carolina Career and College Promise (CCP) Program is a unique opportunity for high school students in the state to get a jump start on their post-secondary education and career goals.

The North Carolina Career and College Promise (CCP) Program is a unique opportunity for high school students in the state to get a jump start on their post-secondary education and career goals. Designed for students in grades 11 and 12, the CCP program allows students to take college courses while still in high school, at no cost to them or their families.

The CCP program offers two paths for students:

  • College Transfer Path
  1. Designed for students who plan to pursue a bachelor's degree after high school
  2. Provides them with the opportunity to take college-level courses that can be transferred to a four-year institution
  • The Career and Technical Education Path
  1. Designed for students who plan to enter the workforce immediately after high school
  2. Pursue a technical degree
  3. Provides them with the opportunity to take courses in fields such as healthcare, information technology, and manufacturing

One of the key benefits of the CCP program is the ability for students to get a head start on their post-secondary education. By taking college courses while still in high school, students are able to save time and money on their education, and enter the workforce or continue their education with college credit already under their belt. Additionally, students who participate in the CCP program are able to get a taste of college life and gain valuable experience in their chosen field, which can help them make informed decisions about their future.

In addition, North Carolina provides the ACT® free to all 11th grade students in participating schools as part of the College Board's ACT® School Day program.

This program is designed to:

  • Increase access to college and career opportunities for students
  • Providing students with the opportunity to take the ACT® for free during the school day
  • Offering the ACT® at no cost
  • Helps to level the playing field for students who may not otherwise have the financial means to pay for the test

Another benefit of the CCP program is the opportunity for students to earn dual enrollment credit. This means that students are able to earn both high school and college credit for the same course, which can help them get a jump start on their college education and potentially shorten the time it takes to complete a degree.

In conclusion, the North Carolina Career and College Promise (CCP) Program is a valuable opportunity for high school students to get a jump start on their post-secondary education and career goals. With its flexible paths, dual enrollment credit options, and no-cost structure, the CCP program provides students with a unique opportunity to gain valuable experience and save time and money on their education. Whether students are planning to enter the workforce or pursue a bachelor's degree, the CCP program is an excellent way to get a head start on their future.
